Care package 3.2

I am thankful for a lot of things in my life, the biggest would be my "network". The family and friends who are closest to me, who love and support me, and who show my how to live my life to the fullest.

I often take this network for granted, but when i receive something as full of love and personal attention as a care package, i have to stop and appreciate my situation.

Over the past three years Georgia has been sending me little (actually, often large) packages stuffed full of things that I've treasured: the latest package was delivered to Quest the day I was moving out.

Yes, most of that chocolate is gone.

I put this de-odor-cream on my feet this morning, we'll see how they smell tonight! I have high hopes that it'll be a wonder cream, my blundstones are beginning to smell a little funky. So far, i love the packaging and the smell is nice.

UPDATE: after walking around and traveling a bit today, my feet smell amazing! I saw the same product, but a different scent, on Kate's shelf (also c/o G) and I'm going to have to try that one tomorrow morning. I like it a lot as well, i love citrus scents.

Again, thank you Georgia for the thoughtful packages, and thank you to all who love and support me!

*G, if you don't want me writing about my next package, lemme know and i wont!*

The apartment: pt 1

I went a little picture crazy, but i just wanted to show it off! I love it, Hunter loves it, and it is very slowly but surely beginning to feel like OUR place.

One of the last jars of canned cherries i made a couple summers ago. Georgia, do you think they're still ok? I was hoping to give a jar to our landlords!

The kitchen. Mamma, notice the dish dryer we got with the Cottonwood gift card? I love it. It is the perfect size for our dishes and is so aesthetically pleasing. Georgia, I've been finishing up the bottle of Prairie Doctor tonic you sent me a while ago- the stress of moving is making my throat tickle.

I know it's dorky to have a picture if our food shelf... but i get to post whatever i want on here :)
I snipped the labels you wrote Georgia, and tapped them to my little containers!

The best salt IN THE WORLD. Thank you Mamma!

Our big soaker tub. I love it. Paired with the bath salts/bombs
Georgia's given me = relaxation at it's best.  Hunter's a bigger fan of baths than I am,
he's particularly stoked on the lavender bath salts.

Love love love the citrus one. Thanks G, i'm still using the refill bottle you got me.

The best (and worst) part about our apartment? The heat is radiant, meaning the floors are heated. All of them. all the time. Really heated. We don't control our own heat, so sometimes it's lovely and toasty, and sometimes its more like a sauna and less like an aparmtnet in February.

I don't want to overload you all with pictures, so I'll give you glimpses into our living room and bedroom soon! Also, the internet is still a snail and uploading pictures to my blog practically crashes my computer. Ah, the woes of the 21st century.
Take a look at us moving in.

Hope you're all enjoying February, lots of love from us, xo.

Movement

Moving house is crazy.
You think you're prepared, and then ... well, we've all moved so we all know the feeling. During the crazy-ness that was the past couple of days Hunter and i have moved all his stuff from Bellingham, moved all my stuff from Squamish (we unexpectedly had to make two trips- not fun), Hunter returned his parents van, stopped by Ikea with his mum on his way back up, we showed Yolanda (Hunter's mum) the place really quickly before she headed back home, we slowly unpacked all our things, and we ventured into our neighborhood to purchase veggies for dinner.
It is hard to arrange all your things into a little space that you have to share with another person and all their things. What makes it even harder is this apartment doesn't have a single closet. I never realized how crucial closets are until now. Everything we own is on display in our home; a good and bad thing. It's making me re-evaluate the necessity of a lot of my belongings.
For now, here are a couple pictures Hunter snapped on our first night!

I'd love to upload some pictures of what our place looks like now that we are settled in -and i'm taking pictures during the day- but it literally took me over an hour to upload these four. If the internet is still snail pace tomorrow, we'll have to ask L. and E. about it, but hopefully it's just a glitch and it'll pick back up!
Here's our apartment.

How do you cope with stress/the stimulation of a new environment?
*Georgia, we've already taken a bath in your big soak-er tub with the bath salts you gave me for Christmas, it smelled amazing and my skin was silky soft afterward, so thank you!

My birthday wish list

Hunter and i moved in yesterday and we are spending today unpacking and getting the last few things of mine from Squamish. It is daunting unpacking and organizing our things into a small and new space. But it is fun. Pictures soon i promise! Until then, enjoy my pre-birthday post.

The big two-oh. I can't believe I'll be 21 in seventeen days.

All the cliches about time are so true. I realized the other day how short a month is, or rather, it hit me how short a month feels to me now. A month is roughly four weeks, a week goes by so quickly, four is a small number and on and on until i was marveling at how short a year is! A part of me misses the time when one evening -Christmas Eve, and night before my birthday, etc- felt like forever. But the other part is glad that i am right where i am.

I really really liked being 20. It was a hard year, a year of big personal and emotional changes, but i am so infinitely glad that i got to live it. I am looking forward to what i will accomplish, how i will grow, and what i will do and learn during 21.

I've never been a big fan of birthday parties. I hate singing happy birthday, or having people sing it to me. As a kid i was always really worried that my friends wouldn't find my smack-dab in the middle of winter sledding/ice skating/sleepover party "cool." Now i just find hosting a party where i have to have fun and everyone else has to have fun and it has to be more "epic" than a normal Friday night party super stressful. So for my 21st birthday, i'm going to celebrate with something quiet, intimate, and low-key. I'll put on a nice bracelet and some earrings, maybe rummage through my toiletries to see if i can find any make up, and spend the day and evening with those i love the most. There are many people who i love who are far away from me, and this is ok. I will see them all in due time and luckily my birthday is not the only day i can tell people i love and appreciate them.

And now, on to how i have been procrastinating lately: my wish list (in no particular order)!

UPDATE: Because of a possible, tropical, sister-vacation Kate and I have been dreaming up I'm adding one more item to my list.

I've been eye-ing up Saltwater Sandals for about two years now, and while daydreaming about this possible vacation, all i can think about is exploring the ruins and the beach in these. Navy blue or white seem to be classics.

This gorgeous print by Karolin Schnoor on Etsy.

This really pretty hand-made planter by Haley Ann Robinson.

I have wanted this colander by ceramicist Helen Levi for ages.
My little brother/secret santa gave me a giftcard towards
it for Christmas but I'm not quite there yet.

This queen size, 100% merino wool blanket is such a splurge,
but when my heart is set one something...

Simple silver or gold rings like these ones.

Cherry wood utensils from the General Store.
This planter by Kat & Roger is so great!
I can imagine how great one of my little plants would look in it.

Gorgeous canister's by Humble Ceramics on the General Store.
I would love to collect cantainers like these
for all my teas, herbs, rice, quinoa etc.

Postalco's brass key holder from the General Store.
So unique, and so useful!

A kettle that brings water to different/exact temperatures.
Making different types of tea equally delicious!

Aesop's Primrose Facial Hydrating Cream.
I have been using straight Coconut oil for a while,
and my skin needs a change in routine so it wont break out.
I've heard good things about this brand and cream!

looks exactly like what i need. I've been on the hunt for
a body scrub for a while, winter really dries out my skin and i find smooth body
washes simply don't clean enough during this season.

I could go on for ages, but all of the above things I would truly use often and cherish.

What was your best/favourite birthday and why? How do you like to celebrate the birthday of those you love?
